Tandag City emergency ops hub on ‘blue alert’ for New Year

BUTUAN CITY – The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (CDRRM) Council in Tandag City, Surigao del Sur has activated its Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and raised its alert status to “blue” ahead of the New Year celebration.

On Tuesday afternoon, Acting Mayor Hyna Jean Boniao signed Executive Order (EO) No. 52, series of 2025, to enhance the EOC’s emergency preparedness and establish a proactive monitoring and response system ahead of the increased mobility during the New Year celebrations.

The order also mandates the CDRRM Office to coordinate responses and preparedness efforts, monitor the situation, and provide timely updates to the public.

“To ensure continuous coordination of all efforts, monitor the situation closely, and implement security and safety measures for the safe observance of the event, the operations center of the CDRRM Office shall adopt the Blue alert level status throughout the New Year celebration from Dec. 31, 2025, until Jan. 1, 2026,” the order stated.

The CDRRM Office is also tasked with monitoring developments, coordinating with concerned agencies, and issuing advisories as necessary.

All barangay governments in Tandag City are also instructed to stay fully alert and report any incidents or developments within their areas during the period. (PNA)
