Survivor series eyes Dinagat Islands as new season location

Producers of the internationally acclaimed television reality series Survivor are scheduled to scout the remote Dinagat Islands for its upcoming season, a move local officials welcome as a massive opportunity for global exposure and sustainable tourism.

The location scouting is set to take place between December 2025 and January 2026, according to a letter sent to provincial officials by John Bel Martinez of Philippine Film Studios, Inc. (PFSI), the local co-production partner for the international franchise.

The search is specifically focused on identifying remote islands that possess minimal human footprint, ranging from lightly touched environments to completely uninhabited natural reserves.

Dinagat Islands Governor Nilo Demerey Jr. expressed his support for the initiative, emphasizing the potential benefits for the province.

“This is a tremendous opportunity for Dinagat Islands to be showcased on the global stage,” Governor Demerey said, noting that the province has pristine, naturally breathtaking islands perfect for the rugged experience the show is known for.

He also highlighted the project’s potential to boost sustainable tourism and raise global awareness about the province’s ecological richness. PFSI, which has experience facilitating Survivor productions in challenging locations for countries like France, Sweden, and the United States, assured local officials that the scouting and production process would strictly align with environmental and cultural sensitivities.

The provincial government has pledged its full cooperation to assist PFSI in identifying suitable sites and providing logistical support. (PNA)
