Police Senior Master Sergeant Diane Marie Mollenido and her eight-year-old son, John Ysmael, were laid to rest Thursday afternoon at the Heritage Memorial Park, nearly three weeks after they were killed following a botched car sale.
The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) confirmed that the inurnment followed a memorial mass held at St. Joseph Parish within Camp Bagong Diwa. Mollenido was a member of the NCRPO’s Regional Personnel and Record Management Section.
The burial marks a somber end to a search that began in mid-January. Investigators believe the mother and son were killed on January 16 during a transaction for a vehicle in Quezon City.
The policewoman’s body was discovered on January 24 along the Pulilan Bypass Road in Bulacan with a gunshot wound to the head.
Her son’s body was recovered five days later, on January 29, at a calamansi farm in Victoria, Tarlac.
Authorities have filed two counts of robbery with homicide and theft against three primary suspects, including a car agent and her partner.
A fourth suspect, who recently surrendered to the police, is currently undergoing inquest proceedings.
Meanwhile, the victim’s ex-husband and the child’s father, Police Senior Master Sergeant John Mollenido, remains under restrictive custody.
He faces a complaint for obstruction of justice and is expected to undergo administrative proceedings.
