The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) held a public consultation Thursday to discuss the implementation of digital payment systems and operational matters for Public Utility Buses (PUBs) operating along the EDSA Busway.
The consultation was led by LTFRB Chairman Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II and attended by Board Member Atty. Greg G. Pua, Jr., Executive Director RAdm. Loumer P. Bernabe, PN (Ret.), Technical Division Chief Joel J. Bolano, Franchise Planning and Monitoring Division Chief Atty. Sherwin D. Vizconde, and Senior Transportation Development Officer Engr. Jenerwin C. Binoya.
Representatives of bus operators participated in the discussion, focusing on the rollout of electronic payment systems for public buses.
Other topics covered included bus fleet deployment and the planned expansion of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) systems in Metro Manila.

Officials said the consultation aimed to collect feedback from stakeholders on operational and technical issues affecting the city’s public transport network.
The LTFRB noted that insights from the session would help refine policies and guidelines to support the transition to digital fare collection.
The board said the initiative is part of ongoing efforts to improve efficiency, reliability, and safety in public transportation services.
