The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Region XI continued efforts to help Local Government Units (LGUs) complete their Local Public Transport Route Plans (LPTRPs).
The initiative was part of the Public Transport Modernization Program (PTMP) and followed guidance from President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. through the Department of Transportation and LTFRB leadership.
On February 3, LTFRB officials met with local leaders in Davao del Sur, including representatives from Sta. Cruz and Bansalan, to review the status of existing route plans and discuss gaps that needed to be addressed.
In Padada, Davao del Sur, an orientation was held for the municipality’s LPTRP Technical Working Group to explain planning requirements and address local transport concerns.
Officials said the consultations aimed to ensure LPTRPs reflected actual mobility needs and supported safer, more efficient public transport services.
LTFRB Region XI highlighted that approved route plans help organize bus and jeepney routes, reduce service gaps, and improve commuter convenience.
At the time of the report, 39 out of 53 LGUs in Region XI had approved route plans, representing 74 percent. The board aimed for full approval of all LPTRPs by the end of 2026.
