The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) warned of heavy rainfall across several provinces in the Visayas and Bicol Region on Sunday due to a prevailing shear line.
The state weather bureau placed Albay, Sorsogon, and multiple provinces in Eastern and Western Visayas under a yellow rainfall alert.
Pagasa said rainfall under the warning could reach 50 to 100 millimeters, increasing the risk of flooding in urban, low-lying, and coastal areas, as well as possible landslides in susceptible zones.
The shear line is also expected to bring periods of rain and thunderstorms over Masbate, Catanduanes, Palawan, and Romblon.
Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon will affect large parts of Luzon, bringing rain to areas such as Cagayan Valley, Aurora, and Quezon, with lighter showers forecast over Metro Manila.
Easterly winds will cause scattered rain and thunderstorms in Caraga and isolated downpours across other parts of Mindanao.
The agency said no low-pressure areas (LPA) or tropical cyclones are being monitored inside or outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), and the chance of cyclone formation in the coming week remains low.
