Large portions of the Philippines will experience scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms on Monday as the shear line and northeast monsoon continue to affect the country, the state weather bureau reported.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) issued warnings for potential flash floods and landslides in several regions.
Specifically, moderate to heavy rains are expected over the Visayas, Sorsogon, Masbate, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, and Surigao del Sur.
In Luzon, the northeast monsoon, locally known as “amihan,” is forecast to bring isolated light rains to Metro Manila and the rest of the island.
Meanwhile, the remainder of Mindanao will see isolated rain showers triggered by localized thunderstorms.
Maritime conditions remain variable across the archipelago. Luzon and the Visayas are expected to face moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal waters.
In contrast, Mindanao will experience light to moderate winds with slight to moderate seas.
PAGASA confirmed that it is currently not monitoring any low-pressure areas for potential tropical cyclone formation.
