Sharon Cuneta is marking a new milestone — not with a grand concert or a red-carpet gala, but with something far more relatable: her senior citizen card.

And true to form, the Megastar celebrated the moment with humor, gratitude, and unapologetic joy.

In a recent Instagram post, the award-winning actress-singer proudly shared a glimpse of her newly issued senior citizen ID, dated January 2026. Sensitive details were covered, but her excitement was fully on display.

“Heto na siya!!! (Siempre inalis ko ibang info, pero ito na Senior Card ko!!!) Hahahaha!!! Yahooo!!!!” she wrote.

She followed it up with a declaration that quickly resonated with fans across generations: “AGING, MY FRIENDS, IS A PRIVILEGE!!! Thank You, Lord!”

Instead of downplaying her age, Cuneta embraced it — reframing turning 60 not as a cultural punchline, but as a badge of survival, gratitude, and grace.

Rewriting the narrative on aging
In an industry that often worships youth, Cuneta’s celebratory tone struck a chord. Rather than hiding from the number, she owned it. Loudly. Happily.

Her post instantly drew thousands of congratulatory messages, with fans flooding the comments section — many insisting she doesn’t look anywhere near a senior citizen.

One follower joked, “Grabe naman ang face card ng mama na ‘yan, senior na ba ‘yan siya talaga??? I love u!”

Another quipped about her ID photo: “The 1×1 pic is screaming: ‘Bibigyan mo ba ako ng discount o ihahampas ko sayo tong maleta?!’”

Compliments poured in, blending humor with admiration:

“Aging like fine wine, Mama! Mas blooming, mas glowing!”
“Super! You look 28 years old in person Mega!”
“How to be you po? Look so young e… hindi naman po pang senior yung picture.”

The reactions highlighted something bigger than vanity — a public figure redefining what 60 looks like in 2026. Cuneta isn’t retreating from the spotlight. If anything, she’s expanding it.

What the senior card actually means
Beyond the viral moment, the senior citizen ID carries real-world benefits under Republic Act 9994, also known as the Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2010.

Filipino citizens aged 60 and above are entitled to a 20% discount and VAT exemption on essential goods and services, including:

  • Medicines and medical consultations
  • Laboratory tests
  • Public transportation fares
  • Restaurants and dining establishments
  • Hotels and lodging
  • Movie tickets and certain leisure activities

Applicants must be Filipino citizens, at least 60 years old, and residents of the barangay where they are applying. The ID is issued through the Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) located at the municipal or barangay hall. Requirements typically include a birth certificate or valid ID, a 1×1 photo, and barangay clearance. Importantly, the card is issued free of charge.

For most Filipinos, it’s a practical government benefit. For Cuneta, it became a cultural moment.\

The Megastar at 60: Still center stage
Cuneta’s career spans decades — from box-office hits to sold-out concerts, from political headlines to personal reinventions. Yet this latest milestone felt unusually intimate. No script. No stage lights. Just a woman thanking God for another year.

Her message subtly counters the stigma often attached to aging in showbiz. Instead of chasing eternal youth, she reframed longevity as something to celebrate.

“Aging, my friends, is a privilege.”

It’s a line that lands differently coming from someone who has lived much of her life in the public eye — through triumphs, controversies, reinventions, and comebacks.

At 60, Sharon Cuneta isn’t fading quietly into the background. She’s laughing, glowing, and apparently ready to claim her discounts with flair.

And if her fans are to be believed, she’ll be doing it looking 28.
