At least nine people were killed and 28 others were injured in a Russian attack on Kyiv, the Ukrainian capital’s mayor said Saturday.
Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko said four children were among those wounded in the assault.
Seventeen injured residents were taken to hospitals for treatment, according to the city government.
The remaining victims received medical care at the scene or were treated as outpatients.
Klitschko did not immediately provide details on the weapons used or the number of strikes carried out.
Emergency teams continued responding to affected areas following the attack.
Russia and Ukraine have exchanged frequent drone and missile attacks as the war continues into its fifth year.
Claims and casualty figures from both sides remain difficult to independently verify because of continuing hostilities.
