Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) televangelist Apollo Quiboloy has returned to the Pasig City Jail Dormitory after receiving treatment for pneumonia at The Medical City in Ortigas, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) confirmed on Thursday.
BJMP spokesperson, Jail Superintendent Jayrex Bustinera, stated that Quiboloy returned on Wednesday night after receiving medical clearance.
Bustinera explained that Quiboloy was brought to Rizal Medical Center on January 18 “after complaining of difficulty breathing.” He was diagnosed with pneumonia and later transferred to The Medical City in Ortigas for further treatment.
On January 23, the Pasig City Regional Trial Court Branch 159 ordered his transfer from The Medical City to Pasig City General Hospital, where he was diagnosed with moderate-risk community-acquired pneumonia and stage 2 hypertension, according to the jail official.
While recovering at Pasig City General Hospital, the Pasig court granted Quiboloy, who is campaigning for a Senate seat in the 2025 midterm elections, permission to record pre-recorded video messages for his Senate campaign.
The court specifically allowed Quiboloy to produce video messages for the Kingdom of Jesus Christ members’ gathering and prayer service on February 9, his proclamation rally on February 11, and the PDP-Laban grand proclamation rally for senatorial candidates on February 13.
During Tuesday’s official campaign launch, Quiboloy shared a video message with his supporters, stating that his Senate run is “God’s mission” for him.
In the over 20-minute video, shown towards the end of his proclamation rally at the Ynares Gym in Pasig City, Quiboloy expressed his desire to address issues within the current administration, including alleged corruption.
“Itong lahat ay may basbas at may kalooban ng Dakilang Ama kaya ako ay nagpapasalamat… Ang panahon natin ngayon, glorification era, may panibagong misyon… Hindi man natin nauunawaan sa simula ngunit ang direksyon ay papunta doon na kahit ako sa simula ay hindi ko nga alam,” Quiboloy said.
Quiboloy is currently detained on charges of alleged child and sexual abuse, as well as human trafficking.
