MANILA – A Publicus Asia survey showed that 44% of respondents believe Vice President Sara Duterte will be convicted in her ongoing impeachment trial, while 31% expect her to be acquitted.
The survey results, released in a report dated October 18, 2026, suggest that more respondents anticipate a conviction than an acquittal as the Senate impeachment proceedings continue.
According to the survey, 65% of respondents expressed strong interest in the impeachment process, indicating considerable public attention to the proceedings and the evidence presented by the prosecution.
The findings come as Duterte faces an impeachment case centered on allegations of unexplained wealth, following the prosecution’s withdrawal of three other articles of impeachment.
The Senate impeachment court is expected to proceed with the defense’s presentation of evidence, subject to its rulings on pending procedural matters.
The survey reflects respondents’ expectations about the possible outcome of the trial rather than a determination of Duterte’s guilt or innocence.
Under the Constitution, conviction in an impeachment trial requires the concurrence of at least two-thirds of all Senate members.
The survey graphic did not provide details on the number of respondents, fieldwork dates, or margin of error.
