PSEi Ends Flat for Second Day Amid Mixed Investor Sentiments

The Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) closed nearly unchanged for the second straight session on Friday, as investors weighed mixed market signals, while the peso continued its sideways movement against the US dollar.

The PSEi slipped 0.07% to 6,089.53 points, while the All Shares index fell 0.19% to 3,665.08 points. Most sectors ended in the red, led by Property (-1.09%), Mining and Oil (-0.95%), and Industrial (-0.30%). Holding Firms slightly dipped by 0.007%, while Services (+0.37%) and Financials (+0.10%) managed modest gains.

Trading volume reached 1.33 billion shares, valued at ₱4.42 billion. Decliners outnumbered advancers 109 to 83, with 56 issues unchanged.

Regina Capital Development Corporation head of sales Luis Limlingan said the market “remained relatively flat for the second consecutive day despite the PHP stabilizing against the USD.”

“Moreover, mixed sentiments ahead of the upcoming earnings season likely kept the index moving sideways as investors await more earnings reports in the coming weeks,” he added, noting continued caution amid US-China trade tensions and broader economic uncertainties.

The peso closed at ₱58.16 per dollar, slightly weaker than Thursday’s ₱58.12 finish. It opened at ₱58.02, trading between ₱58.00 and ₱58.22, with an average of ₱58.11. Dollar volume slipped to USD1.43 billion from the previous day’s USD1.69 billion.
