The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) announced on Saturday that all proceeds from the Open Government Partnership (OGP) Fun Run 2025 will fund the humanitarian programs of the Philippine Red Cross (PRC).
The OGP Fun Run 2025, scheduled to take place on Sunday at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila, serves as a prelude to the OGP Asia and the Pacific Regional Meeting (APRM), which is set for February 5–7 in Manila.
The APRM is a high-level gathering that aims to foster open governance by uniting government agencies, private sector representatives, and civil society organizations.
According to the DBM, the fun run promotes health and wellness and champions the principles of transparency, accountability, and citizen participation in governance.
“This event highlights the core values of the OGP, which are closely aligned with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s vision of a Bagong Pilipinas (New Philippines),” said Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman. “It’s about advancing transparency, participation, and good governance with conviction.”
The DBM partnered with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the PRC to organize the inaugural OGP Fun Run.
PRC Chairperson Richard Gordon thanked Pangandaman for her leadership and support of the organization’s humanitarian initiatives. PRC Secretary General Dr. Gwendolyn Pang added that the proceeds would benefit vulnerable communities nationwide.
MMDA Chairperson Romando Artes described the event as a platform for the public to support initiatives promoting government accountability, transparency, and social reform.
The community event offers three race categories: 3 kilometers (₱700), 5 kilometers (₱800), and 10 kilometers (₱1,000). Warm-up activities will kick off at 4 a.m., followed by the start of the race.
The DBM has also collaborated with several sponsors, including San Miguel Corp., Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp., Metro Pacific Tollways Corp., Systems Technology Institute, Philippine Airlines, Coca-Cola, Bingo Plus, Pocari Sweat, Maynilad, and Pinoy Fitness.
