In recognizing the serious impact of the recent typhoons and southwest monsoon on the financial standing of affected areas, the Land Bank of the Philippines has extended ₱12.6 million in financial assistance and relief support to local government units (LGUs) in Central Luzon.
According to LandBank president and chief executive officer Lynette Ortiz, the assistance, partly funded by voluntary cash donations from its employees nationwide, supports immediate relief operations and community recovery efforts.
“Of the total amount, ₱11.6 million will be provided as cash assistance to 46 provincial, city and municipal governments in Bataan, Bulacan, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Zambales and Pampanga,” Ortiz announced.
Most of the said provinces were placed under a state of calamity after widespread flooding affected almost 2 million families, damaged infrastructure and disrupted livelihoods.
The remaining ₱1 million was allocated for relief operations in Pampanga, with support from voluntary cash donations from LandBank employees nationwide, who each contributed the equivalent of at least one hour of their salary.
The employees also helped pack and distribute at least 2,000 grocery packs to flood-affected families in the municipalities of Apalit, Sto. Tomas and Minalin.
“As communities recover from the effects of Typhoon Neneng and the enhanced southwest monsoon, we remain ready to provide timely and meaningful assistance to our kababayans,” Ortiz enthused.
“Together with local governments, we are helping address urgent needs, restore essential services, and support families as they rebuild their lives,” she added.
