A Catholic citizens’ group has launched a daily 9 a.m. prayer campaign calling on Filipinos to unite against corruption, particularly in the government’s controversial flood control projects.
The Catholic Advocates for Responsible Electorate (CARE) said volunteers joining the effort will be known as “prayer warriors,” as the movement aims to channel faith-based action into a national push for accountability. The group said the initiative is designed to bring believers together and apply public pressure for a full investigation into long-standing allegations of irregularities in flood mitigation programs.
According to CARE, the campaign uses the rosary as a symbol of collective resolve, transforming a familiar devotion into a call for justice for communities affected by substandard or delayed infrastructure. Participants who sign up through the group’s online form will receive a custom rosary baller and an anti-corruption-themed chaplet.
Each 9 a.m. prayer session centers on three intentions: justice for families who have suffered from flooding, accountability for public officials implicated in wrongdoing, and a renewed commitment to ethical governance. Parish communities have been encouraged to host small in-person gatherings in courtyards or church centers to make the prayer circles more accessible.
CARE also urged supporters to help amplify the campaign online by posting their participation, tagging local leaders, and using the hashtag #PrayerWarriorsAgainstCorruption to broaden the call for reform.
The movement draws inspiration from the widely observed 3 O’Clock Habit, applying the same consistency and devotion to a cause the group says is both spiritual and civic in nature.
