The Philippine National Police (PNP) will enhance firearms proficiency and marksmanship among its personnel. This announcement was made by PNP Chief, Police General Nicolas Torre III, following the third PNP Press Corps Invitational Shootfest at the QCPD firing range in Camp Karingal, just a day after the gun ban ended.
According to Torre, he will reinstate and tighten training programs for police officers in handling and firing their weapons. He noted that while the program may not have been taken seriously in the past, he will now lead the initiative, with no exemptions for anyone from patrolmen to generals.
Torre emphasized the importance of improving the marksmanship and firearms proficiency of police officers, especially in situations where their lives may be at risk. He mentioned that facilities will be available to enhance the skills of the police, and those who fail to meet the standards will have their service firearms revoked until they pass the program.
