PNP reports peaceful, orderly ‘Undas’

MANILA – The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday reported a generally peaceful and orderly observance of All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days (Undas), citing early security preparations, police deployment and public cooperation.

PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said initial reports indicated that security operations effectively managed the influx of cemetery visitors and travelers during the annual observance.

“Based on reports from the ground, this year’s Undas was generally peaceful and orderly, reflecting the discipline of our personnel and the cooperation of the public,” he said in a statement.

Nartatez attributed the generally orderly situation to early planning, close coordination with partner agencies and the strategic deployment of officers in areas expected to draw large crowds.

The PNP deployed 166,365 personnel and force multipliers nationwide to secure cemeteries and columbaria, churches, major roads, transport hubs, tourist destinations and checkpoints. (Christopher Lloyd T. Caliwan/PNA)
