Police arrested a 35-year-old man accused of selling illegal firearms during an entrapment operation in Oton, Iloilo, on June 28.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) said the suspect, known by the alias “Pablo,” was caught after allegedly selling a caliber .38 revolver to an undercover police officer.
Authorities said operatives also recovered live ammunition, suspected explosive material, cash, and other items from the suspect.
Police said the man was also being investigated in connection with a robbery with homicide case in Iloilo City on May 24.
The PNP said investigators were still gathering evidence while ensuring that legal procedures were properly followed.
PNP chief Gen. Jose Nartatez said the recovery of illegal firearms helps reduce the risk of guns being used in crimes and protects communities from further violence.
He also urged the public to continue sharing information on illegal activities, saying community cooperation remains important in maintaining peace and order.
The PNP said it would sustain operations against loose firearms and pursue criminal cases through evidence-based and lawful police work.
