The Philippine National Police has ordered its units to intensify information campaigns against bullying and promote online safety following the fatal school shooting in Tacloban City.
PNP chief Gen. Jose Nartatez said Monday that all women and children protection desks were directed to strengthen campaigns on violence against children.
He said the efforts would be carried out in coordination with schools, parents, local officials, and other community stakeholders.
Nartatez also ordered the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group to conduct online safety lectures for students, teachers, and school personnel to help them identify cyber threats.
The renewed campaign followed the June 22 shooting at San Jose National High School in Tacloban City, where two minors allegedly opened fire on campus.
Three students were killed while 20 others were wounded in the attack.
Police earlier said the two suspects, aged 14 and 15, had allegedly experienced bullying and were influenced by violent online content before the incident.
The PNP said it supported DepEd’s plan to hire more guidance counselors and strengthen school safety measures, with Nartatez saying police would work with educators, parents, local governments, and communities to prevent threats before they escalate.
