The Philippine National Police (PNP) arrested two suspected members of the Communist Terrorist Group in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental, following intelligence-driven operations coordinated with the Philippine Army and local police units.

Authorities identified the first suspect, 35-year-old “Alvin,” who was taken into custody in Barangay Sta. Ana for murder with no bail recommended. Investigators said he is active in the CTG’s armed unit in Northern Mindanao and has been involved in recruitment and youth organizing.

The second suspect, 40-year-old “Tibor,” was apprehended in Barangay Rosario for rebellion or insurrection. Police set bail at Php 200,000. He has been linked to the CTG since 2017 and reportedly participated in both ideological and operational activities.

Investigators are also reviewing reports of the suspects’ involvement in violent incidents across Misamis Oriental in 2023 as part of ongoing probes.

Chief PNP, Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., said the arrests reflect the police’s commitment to community safety. He noted that the operations aim “not only to apprehend wanted persons, but also to ensure the safety of our communities.”

Officials said the arrests demonstrate the effectiveness of intelligence-led policing and the implementation of the PNP Focused Agenda, particularly the Enhanced Managing Police Operations program.

The Philippine National Police emphasized that operations like these reinforce law enforcement’s role in protecting communities and maintaining peace and order across the region.
