CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines — The Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) strengthened its campaign against school bullying, violence, and online child exploitation through an awareness activity held at Ayala Centrio Mall in Cagayan de Oro City on October 8, 2026.
The activity, conducted in observance of World Mental Health Month, brought attention to threats affecting children’s safety, mental well-being, and online security.
Police Colonel Lemuel Gonda, chief of Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit 13 (RACU 13), served as a panelist and resource speaker during discussions on school bullying and school violence.
Gonda discussed emerging threats, including Nihilistic Violent Extremism, Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children (OSAEC), and Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials (CSAEM).
The discussion aimed to educate participants about the dangers children may encounter both in schools and online, while promoting responsible internet use and encouraging the public to recognize and report suspicious activities that could endanger minors.
Meanwhile, Police Major General Andre Dizon, acting director of the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group, emphasized the importance of public awareness and cooperation among schools, families, and communities in preventing bullying and protecting children from abuse and exploitation.
Dizon underscored the need for coordinated efforts to address online threats and strengthen safeguards for children, particularly as digital platforms become increasingly integrated into their daily lives.
The PNP-ACG reiterated its commitment to promoting child protection and online safety through public education, community engagement, and collaboration with stakeholders.
The initiative also highlighted the importance of creating safer learning environments where students can develop without fear of bullying, violence, or exploitation.
