MANILA, Philippines — Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Sonny Angara led the oath-taking ceremony of 339 School Counselor Associates from the National Capital Region (NCR) at the DepEd Central Office on Thursday, October 15, 2026.
The newly sworn-in personnel will help strengthen guidance and student support services in schools as part of the department’s efforts to promote safer, more supportive, and inclusive learning environments.
According to DepEd, the School Counselor Associates will play a role in providing guidance and assistance to learners, helping schools address students’ needs and promote their overall well-being.
Their deployment is expected to reinforce existing school-based support systems and help ensure that students have access to appropriate guidance services throughout their educational journey.
The initiative forms part of DepEd’s continuing efforts to strengthen student welfare and create learning environments where children feel safe, supported, and cared for.
Through the addition of 339 School Counselor Associates in Metro Manila, the department aims to improve the delivery of guidance services and support the development of learners beyond academics.
