The Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Alumni Association on Thursday urged its members to remain non-partisan amid developments involving Senator Ronald dela Rosa.
Association chairperson Ricardo David issued the call after dela Rosa appealed to fellow academy graduates for peaceful support following the issuance of an arrest warrant by the International Criminal Court (ICC).
David said members should stay calm, united, and circumspect as public discussion around the issue continues.
He acknowledged that alumni may hold differing views but said these should not undermine mutual respect within the corps.
He also urged members to uphold the values of honor, integrity, professionalism, and unity, and to avoid divisive rhetoric, personal attacks, and premature judgment.
Support for dela Rosa also emerged from members of the PMA Sinagtala Class of 1986, with a reported statement backing the senator circulating among alumni.
The situation unfolded alongside heightened tensions after reports of gunfire inside the Senate building on Wednesday night.
Dela Rosa is facing an arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court over alleged crimes against humanity tied to the previous administration’s anti-drug campaign.
