The Philippines is rapidly emerging as a prime destination for digital infrastructure investments, thanks to its strategic location, competitive incentives, and government-backed reforms, according to Board of Investments (BOI) Executive Director Bobby Fondevilla.

Speaking at the Siemens Tech Forum in Mandaluyong City on Wednesday, Fondevilla underscored how the data center industry is becoming a cornerstone of the nation’s digital economy. He stressed that the Philippines is no longer a “potential” site but a proven hub, citing the growing presence of global data center players.

“The Philippines is not just ready. It is an ideal location for the future of digital infrastructure with our competitive incentives, strategic locations, and a government fully committed to innovation,” Fondevilla said. “We are creating the ideal environment for data center investments to thrive.”

He pointed to several strengths that give the country an edge: a highly skilled and adaptable workforce, a young and tech-savvy population, growing renewable energy capacity, and regulatory reforms designed to ensure a transparent, investor-friendly business climate.

The country’s prospects are also reinforced by market trends. Siemens ASEAN president and CEO Dr. Thai Lai Pham noted that the Philippine data center market, valued at USD633 million (PHP36.2 billion) in 2024, is projected to more than triple to USD1.97 billion (PHP112.67 billion) by 2030.

Pham emphasized the need for efficiency, resilience, and sustainability as guiding principles for long-term growth, noting that the local industry is at the forefront of the Philippines’ digital transformation. “Stakeholders must continuously engage in dialogue to fully leverage the game-changing opportunities ahead,” he added.

With momentum building, industry leaders agree: the Philippines is poised not just to compete, but to lead, in Southeast Asia’s fast-growing digital economy.
