The Philippines is gearing up for massive infrastructure growth, with 229 projects worth PHP2.8 trillion now in the pipeline under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) program.
As of September 3, two new ventures were added: the PPP for School Infrastructure Project Phase 4 and the Metro Manila Waste-to-Energy Project. At the same time, three projects were removed, including the PRA Digitalization Project, the 3,000 TPD Manila Waste-to-Energy Facility, and the Sanitary Landfill and Waste-to-Energy Project in New Clark City.
Data from the PPP Center shows that 165 projects, valued at PHP2.6 trillion, will be spearheaded by the national government, while 64 projects will be carried out by local government units.
Railways dominate the portfolio, accounting for PHP1.76 trillion, followed by land transport (PHP231.9 billion), property development (PHP207.15 billion), and justice-related projects (PHP163.9 billion).
Most of the projects are concentrated in the National Capital Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Ilocos Region, and Cagayan Valley—areas seen as pivotal to sustaining economic growth and improving nationwide connectivity.
