Philippines, South Korea reaffirm defense ties

The long-standing defense alliance between the Philippines and South Korea received a significant boost following the recent visit of Major General Shin Eun-bong, Chief of the Republic of Korea Army (ROKA) Personnel Command, to the Philippine Army (PA) headquarters in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.

PA vice commander Major General Efren Morados welcomed Maj. Gen. Shin Eun-bong.

During their engagement, the two army leaders reinforced their dedication to strengthening the bilateral defense relationship.

The two officers specifically committed to continuing cooperation in key areas such as personnel development, training exchanges, and overall capacity building.

Maj. Gen. Morados also took the opportunity to express appreciation for the ROKA’s ongoing support for the PA’s initiatives. He emphasized that deepening the bilateral defense ties between the two nations is vital for addressing shared security challenges and fostering regional stability.

This meeting further solidified the alliance, which was previously reinforced by high-level talks last month in Seoul between PA chief Lieutenant General Antonio Nafarrete and ROKA chief of staff General Kim Gyu-Ha.
