The Philippines has earned praise for its strong commitment to investor transparency and proactive communication, as reflected in the latest Investor Relations and Debt Transparency Report by the Institute of International Finance (IIF).
According to the 2025 edition of the report, the country scored 49.3 out of a possible 50 points in overall investor relations practices—an improvement from 48.9 in 2024. This puts the Philippines in second place among 54 emerging and frontier markets, trailing only behind Indonesia, which topped the list with 49.4 points.
The IIF, a Washington D.C.-based global association of financial institutions, assessed countries across three main areas: investor relations, debt transparency, and the dissemination of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) data and policies.
The Philippines ranked third—alongside Brazil and Chile—in debt transparency, with a score of 12.3 out of 13. It also earned a perfect score of 4 out of 4 in ESG data and policy dissemination, highlighting the country’s commitment to making ESG-related information available and integrating investor feedback into policy development.
The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) said the improved score reflects the government’s efforts to ensure timely and comprehensive access to economic data, credit updates, and direct communication with policymakers.
“The IIF assessment recognizes the concerted efforts of the economic team to provide information and answer questions about the Philippines’ strong macroeconomic fundamentals and ongoing structural reforms,” said BSP Governor Eli Remolona Jr.
He added that the BSP remains focused on strengthening investor engagement through enhanced transparency and regular dialogue.
The BSP’s investor relations program includes global roadshows, briefings, and specially arranged investor meetings, supported by a strong online presence. Beyond fiscal and monetary updates, the program also features detailed ESG data, forward-looking budgetary plans, and information on debt issuances.
These initiatives are seen as key to maintaining investor confidence and promoting long-term economic resilience in the country.
