PH vehicle sales hit record high in 2025

The Philippine automotive industry reached a new historic milestone in 2025, adding a record 491,395 vehicles to the nation’s roads, according to the latest data from the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI) and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA).

The year-end figure represents a 3.7% increase from the 473,842 units sold in 2024. Despite the record-breaking performance, the industry narrowly missed its ambitious 500,000-unit annual sales target.

Industry leaders attributed the growth to aggressive promotional campaigns, a flurry of new product launches, and an expanding market for electrified vehicles. The year concluded on a high note, with December posting 47,371 sales—the highest monthly volume recorded since 2017.

The 2025 performance was achieved despite several headwinds, including the reimposition of excise taxes on pickup trucks and disruptions caused by natural calamities throughout the year.

Commercial vehicles continued to dominate the market, accounting for approximately 79% of total sales. Within the emerging sustainable mobility sector, hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) remained the most popular choice among consumers, followed by battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and plug-in hybrids.

Toyota Motor Philippines Corp. maintained its dominant position, capturing nearly half of the total market share with 229,447 units sold.

Other top-performing brands for the year included:

  • Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp.: 18.72% market share
  • Suzuki Philippines Inc.: 4.74% market share
  • Ford Motor Philippines Inc.: 4.70% market share
  • Nissan Philippines Inc.: 4.44% market share

Jose Maria Atienza, CAMPI’s incoming president, expressed optimism for the industry’s trajectory, noting that the diverse range of new options, particularly in the commercial and electrified segments, has successfully expanded consumer choice in the local market.
