The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has recovered 15 bodies in its ongoing search and rescue operations following the sinking of M/V Trisha Kerstin 3 early Monday, January 26, in Basilan waters.

The RoRo vessel, operated by Aleson Shipping Lines, was en route from Zamboanga City to Jolo, Sulu when it sank past midnight, authorities said.

Rescue teams continue to scour the area for survivors and victims, as efforts remain underway amid challenging sea conditions.

To support affected families, the Coast Guard Station Western Sulu has set up an information desk to provide verified updates and assist in coordination regarding passengers of the vessel.

“The help desk serves as a centralized point for verified updates, coordination, and inquiries related to the incident,” the PCG said in a statement.

The information desk was organized jointly with the Sulu provincial government, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) of Sulu, the Municipal DRRMO of Jolo, and other agencies.

Authorities urged relatives and concerned parties to approach the desk for information and cautioned against spreading unverified reports.
