BAGUIO CITY — The local government is fast-tracking the distribution of food subsidies to low-income residents using a Php 56 million grant from the national government.
Mayor Benjamin Magalong said he instructed the City Social Welfare and Development Office to prepare all documents, including project proposals and purchase requests, for the immediate rollout of the program.
The city is a recipient of the 2026 Local Government Support Fund-Financial Assistance under the Bagong Pilipinas Rice Program.
Magalong emphasized that the distribution would be free from political influence.
“No politics, no epal this time. Purely assistance from the government to those in need,” he said.
The mayor also assured that clear guidelines would be strictly followed to identify beneficiaries fairly and ensure proper use of funds.
The Php 56 million allocation is part of the nearly Php 58-billion nationwide fund for 2026, intended to provide direct support to disadvantaged families and communities.
Funds are downloaded to the city government directly and digitally to allow faster implementation.
