The Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU), through the Provincial Health Office (PHO), partnered with the Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center–Infection Prevention and Control Unit (ITRMC-IPCU) and the Philippine Nurses Association (PNA) to conduct the Kilatis-Kutis Activity and Infection Control Caravan in San Gabriel, La Union, on September 18, 2026.
The activity gathered 100 participants, including barangay health workers, midwives, healthcare workers, and local residents, to promote awareness, early detection, and proper management of skin and communicable diseases.
Under the National Leprosy Control Program, the Kilatis-Kutis initiative highlighted the signs of leprosy, early consultation, proper referral, and the importance of eliminating stigma and discrimination against affected individuals. The caravan also featured discussions on tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, rabies, and proper handwashing techniques.
To support hygiene and infection prevention, PGLU distributed 100 Agkaysa Health Kits, while ITRMC-IPCU provided 100 bottles of Sterilium alcohol and liquid soap.
Through this collaborative initiative, the participating agencies reaffirmed their commitment to accessible healthcare, disease prevention, and health education, promoting healthier and stigma-free communities throughout La Union.
