The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) launched relief operations in Davao City on Saturday following flash floods that displaced thousands of residents after heavy monsoon rains.
The agency said it immediately activated its disaster response mechanism in line with the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., mobilizing its regional offices and coordinating with private partners to deliver assistance to affected communities.
Several Authorized Agent Corporations, including Hexaprime Inc., Magic Three Gaming Corp., Northman Gaming Corp., and Antiguas Gaming Corp., joined the initial relief efforts, with more partners expected to provide additional support.
PCSO General Manager Melquiades Robles said the agency moved quickly to ensure aid reached affected families as soon as possible, stressing the importance of a rapid response during emergencies.
Robles said the PCSO’s nationwide network of regional branches and private-sector partners allows the agency to mobilize and distribute relief goods without unnecessary delays.
The flash floods struck Davao City on July 24 after heavy rains brought by the southwest monsoon caused rivers and waterways to overflow, prompting emergency response operations.
The PCSO said it is continuing to work with local government units and partner organizations to ensure assistance reaches affected residents promptly.
The agency added that it remains on standby to provide additional aid as needed while closely monitoring the situation in coordination with local authorities and other government agencies.
