NAGA CITY – The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office has donated Php 25.1 million worth of diagnostic equipment to Naga City General Hospital and pledged additional support to help the facility qualify for Level 2 accreditation from the Department of Health.
The equipment, turned over Thursday under the PCSO Medical Equipment Donation Program, includes a digital stationary X-ray machine, an ultrasound machine and a 2D echocardiogram machine.
PCSO said the machines will allow the hospital to perform more diagnostic procedures in-house, reducing the need for patients to travel to other hospitals or private diagnostic centers.
The agency added that the equipment will support faster diagnosis of injuries and illnesses, internal organ assessment and the detection and monitoring of cardiovascular conditions.
PCSO General Manager Melquiades Robles said the donation forms part of the agency’s mandate to return revenues from its gaming operations to the public through medical and charitable assistance.
Members of the PCSO Board also inspected the hospital’s intensive care unit and assessed other equipment needs.
The agency committed to provide additional equipment and assistance needed for the hospital to meet DOH requirements for Level 2 accreditation, which would allow it to expand clinical services and accommodate more patients requiring specialized care.
Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo thanked the PCSO for the donation, saying the equipment would help the hospital serve patients more quickly and reduce their reliance on private facilities for diagnostic services.
