PCG’s First Female Pilot Promoted to Commodore

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has promoted Christine Pauline Bergaño-Diciano, the first female pilot of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), to the rank of commodore.

The PCG announced the promotion on Saturday, following the recommendation of Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon, which was approved last Wednesday.

Bergaño-Diciano made history in 2005 as the PCG’s first female pilot and completed her first flight in 2006. She led multiple aerial missions during the COVID-19 pandemic to deliver medical supplies to remote areas.

In 2010, she became the first and only female PCG Air Station commander under the West Philippine Sea Oplan Matatag initiative.
