The Philippines, through the Department of Health (DOH), is championing health equity locally, regionally, and globally as the President of the 78th World Health Assembly (WHA).
As this year’s WHA leader, the DOH is collaborating with member states and stakeholders to ensure fair access to essential health services.
“President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr.’s direction is to address long-term health objectives, promote a more equitable and resilient global health landscape, and enable dialogue on critical health issues globally, having Philippines in the forefront,” the DOH said.
This marks the first time the Philippines has presided over the WHA since its establishment in 1948.
Under Health Secretary Dr. Ted Herbosa’s leadership, the DOH is also enhancing its role in global health diplomacy by strengthening bilateral ties and engaging in health cooperation with various countries.
