The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) lauded President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s approval of the subsistence allowance increase, affirming the administration’s commitment to improving soldiers’ welfare.
AFP spokesperson Col. Francel Margareth Padilla emphasized that the adjustment, included in the 2025 General Appropriations Act (GAA), reinforces efforts to support frontline troops.
“Our continuous efforts to ensure the welfare of our personnel reflect our commitment to strengthening the well-being of our troops, especially those who serve on the frontlines, recognizing the vital role they play in safeguarding our nation,” Padilla said.
Philippine Navy spokesperson Capt. John Percie Alcos echoed this sentiment, highlighting its positive impact on sailors’ and marines’ morale.
“The increase in subsistence allowance underscores the administration’s recognition of our sailors’ and marines’ unwavering dedication and sacrifices in safeguarding our nation’s sovereignty,” Alcos stated.
He added that proper nutrition is vital for maintaining physical and mental readiness across land, sea, and air operations.
Under Executive Order (EO) 84, Marcos approved raising the subsistence allowance from PHP 150 to PHP 350, effective retroactively from January 1. The increase applies to trainees, probationary officers, reservists, cadets, and other military personnel.
