PBBM enhances access to digital education in Marawi City

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Monday spearheaded initiatives to improve access to digital education and basic learning needs in Marawi City, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to making education more accessible for Filipino youth, particularly in conflict-affected and remote areas.

During his visit, Marcos inspected the Temporary Learning Spaces (TLS) in Barangay Sagonsongan, where over 720 students are currently enrolled across five schools. The TLS program, initiated after the 2017 Marawi siege, provides emergency classrooms for learners whose schools were damaged or made inaccessible due to conflict.

The President personally observed the installation of a Starlink internet unit, a personal donation aimed at ensuring reliable internet connectivity for students and teachers at the TLS site. Additionally, Marcos announced the provision of one Starlink unit each to several schools in remote areas of the city, including:

  • Bangon Elementary School
  • Bacarat National High School
  • Angoyao National High School
  • Cabasaran Primary School

Along with the internet kits, the Office of the President distributed school bags filled with supplies to all students enrolled in the TLS sites.

Marcos is also scheduled to inspect other education, medical, and transportation facilities during his engagements in Marawi City. The deployment of Starlink satellite internet to underserved schools is part of the administration’s broader effort to enhance digital infrastructure and bridge the education gap in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas across the country.
