Malacañang on Thursday dismissed speculations that the Marcos administration is planning to jail Vice President Sara Duterte and her allies before the 2028 presidential elections.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said there is no truth to the allegations, assuring Duterte and her supporters, including Senator Imee Marcos, that they have nothing to worry about.
“They are just creations of fertile and wild imagination,” Castro said.
The denial came after Duterte claimed the Marcos administration appears to be “orchestrating something behind the scenes” while public attention is focused on the ongoing probe into questionable flood control projects.
Senator Imee Marcos also alleged that the administration has a “Plan C” to “get rid” of Duterte before 2028. She linked this to Justice Secretary Crispin Remulla’s reported bid for the Ombudsman post, following failed attempts to unseat Duterte through a people’s initiative to amend the Constitution and an impeachment move.
On Wednesday, Castro responded to the senator’s remarks, advising her to “recalibrate her crystal ball” and rely on evidence rather than rumors.
