The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) warned that high heat index levels are expected across the country, with some areas likely to reach as high as 41 degrees Celsius on Thursday.
In Metro Manila, the heat index may range from 37 to 38 degrees Celsius, based on the latest forecast.
Pagasa said the heat index reflects how hot it feels to the human body when humidity is combined with air temperature.
Among the areas projected to experience the highest heat index are Coron, Dumangas in Iloilo, and Borongan, where levels may reach up to 41 degrees Celsius.
The agency classified these conditions under the extreme caution category, which may cause heat cramps and heat exhaustion with prolonged exposure.
The weather agency advised the public to limit time under direct sunlight, especially during midday hours, and to stay hydrated.
Pagasa said the hot and humid conditions were being felt as the dry season has already set in, with some areas earlier recording even higher heat index levels reaching the danger category.
Despite generally fair weather, the easterlies continue to bring moisture that may trigger cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over parts of Mindanao, while the rest of the country is expected to have isolated rain showers mostly in the afternoon or evening.
