The Office of the Ombudsman said on Thursday it would comply with a directive from a House panel to provide the Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth of Vice President Sara Duterte.
Assistant Ombudsman Mico Clavano said the agency was prepared to respond to the request, noting that formal communication or a subpoena would be sufficient basis for compliance.
He said the office recognizes the authority of Congress to seek documents relevant to its proceedings.
On Wednesday, the House of Representatives of the Philippines Committee on Justice issued a subpoena for Duterte’s SALN records dating back to 2007.
The request forms part of the panel’s ongoing deliberations on the impeachment complaints filed against the Vice President.
Lawmakers have been reviewing documents and testimonies to determine whether the complaints meet the required grounds for further proceedings.
The Ombudsman’s response is expected to provide additional records that may be examined by the committee.
