Light rainfall is expected over large parts of the Philippines on Thursday as the northeast monsoon continues to affect weather conditions, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

In its early morning forecast, Pagasa said cloudy skies with intermittent light rains will prevail over several areas in Luzon and the eastern sections of the country influenced by the amihan.

These include the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Quezon, Marinduque, Oriental Mindoro, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, and parts of Eastern Visayas such as Northern Samar and Eastern Samar, as well as Caraga.

Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon, most of the Visayas, and Northern Mindanao may also experience brief light rains as monsoon winds persist, Pagasa added.

For the remainder of Mindanao, weather conditions are expected to be generally fair, with occasional rain showers or thunderstorms developing in the afternoon or evening due to localized weather systems.

Pagasa is also keeping track of two low-pressure areas, although neither is expected to intensify in the near term.

One low-pressure area, which developed from the remnants of Tropical Depression Ada, remains within the Philippine area of responsibility east of Luzon, while another system is being monitored far outside the country’s eastern boundary near Mindanao.
