One Meralco Foundation (OMF), the corporate social responsibility arm of the Manila Electric Company (Meralco), once again demonstrated its commitment to public education by actively participating in the Department of Education’s (DepEd) Brigada Eskwela 2025. Held from June 9 to 13, the annual initiative mobilized communities to help prepare thousands of public schools across the country for the upcoming academic year.
In a show of bayanihan, Meralco employee-volunteers joined the Brigada Eskwela kick-off at Angono Elementary School, where the Schools Division of Rizal led the ceremonial opening. Through OMF’s “Safe ang School Ko” program, volunteers from Meralco’s Angono Business Center and Rizal Sector conducted electrical safety inspections and trimmed trees near power lines to prevent accidents. They also donated cleaning materials to help restore and refresh classrooms.
These efforts extended beyond Rizal, reaching public schools in Pasig City, Las Piñas City, Tondo and Sampaloc in Manila, as well as Taytay and Cainta in Rizal, and General Emilio Aguinaldo, Tagaytay City, and Indang in Cavite.
“Participating in Brigada Eskwela reflects our shared commitment with DepEd to create safe and welcoming learning environments for students,” said OMF President Jeffrey O. Tarayao. “As Meralco employees, we bring the values of bayanihan and malasakit into action, helping shape brighter futures for Filipino learners.”
In addition to Brigada Eskwela, OMF also rolled out its annual Balik Eskwela campaign. Together with Meralco and its subsidiaries, the Foundation will distribute back-to-school kits containing reading and writing materials to kindergarten students in public schools, further supporting their readiness for the school year ahead.
