One Cebu endorses Alyansa senatorial bets

Cebu Governor Gwendolyn “Gwen” Garcia formally endorsed the senatorial bets of the administration-backed senatorial candidates for the upcoming midterm elections.

In Garcia’s speech at the One Cebu rally that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. attended, she mentioned the names of Panfilo ”Ping” Lacson, Vicente Sotto III, Manny Pacquiao, Benhur Abalos, Francis Tolentino, Lito Lapid, Bong Revilla Jr., Pia Cayetano, and Erwin Tulfo.

Previously, she also endorsed Abby Binay for the upcoming elections.

At the same event, President Marcos endorsed Garcia’s candidacy, raising her hand during a rally of the On Cebu party in Dumanjug.

This comes as the Office of the Ombudsman placed Garcia under preventive suspension for six months without pay over alleged grave abuse of authority, among other charges, for issuing a special permit to a construction company without legal basis.

Garcia has rejected calls to step down, insisting that the preventive suspension is baseless.

Malacañang, meanwhile, assured the public that President Marcos would not interfere in the Ombudsman’s decision.

However, Marcos previously emphasized that Garcia should be treated fairly amid the allegations against her.
