The Office of the Ombudsman has obtained the statements of assets, liabilities and net worth (SALN) of 26 members of the House of Representatives in connection with an ongoing investigation into alleged irregularities in infrastructure projects.
Assistant Ombudsman Mico Clavano confirmed on Tuesday that the initial batch of requested documents had been submitted by Congress.
He said the lawmakers’ SALNs were part of the first set of records sought by investigators examining possible anomalies in public works projects.
The identities of the 26 lawmakers involved have not been disclosed as the inquiry continues.
Clavano also indicated that investigators were looking into what he described as a broader pattern involving infrastructure-related transactions.
Earlier, Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla had urged House officials to comply with the request for disclosure of SALNs of lawmakers and other personnel under review.
Remulla has warned that failure to submit required documents could result in contempt proceedings, and has also sought additional SALNs covering a 10-year period.
The Ombudsman’s office said further subpoenas may be issued as the investigation expands to include other congressional officials and administrative officers.
