Police Regional Office-10 (PRO-10) confiscated more than PHP119 million worth of smuggled cigarettes during operations conducted in the first three quarters of 2025.
According to PRO-10 spokesperson Maj. Joann Navarro, the largest haul—worth PHP67.6 million—was recorded from January to March, followed by PHP36.7 million from April to June, and PHP14.7 million in the third quarter.
Navarro said smuggling cases are turned over to the Bureau of Customs, while the Bureau of Internal Revenue is alerted for possible tax violations.
On Nov. 6, police also intercepted PHP8 million worth of smuggled cigarettes in Sultan Naga Dimaporo, Lanao del Norte, resulting in the arrest of a 29-year-old suspect.
Beyond anti-smuggling efforts, Navarro said PRO-10 continues to intensify operations against illegal drugs, wanted persons, loose firearms, and illegal mining across the region.
