NHA joins Inter-KSA Advocacy Walk

The National Housing Authority (NHA) joined forces with other key shelter agencies (KSAs) for the Inter-KSA Advocacy Walk, an event led by the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point System Coordinating Body (GFPS), on February 28, 2025.

The activity, attended by 500 employees from the participating KSAs, was held in observance of the 2025 National Women’s Month celebration this March. The goal was to recognize women’s exceptional contributions to nation-building and facilitate their ongoing empowerment.

A short program initiated the parade at 8 a.m. inside the NHA Main Compound. It was followed by a route along the Elliptical Road in Quezon City before returning to the NHA.

In a message, NHA General Manager and GAD Champion Joeben Tai highlighted the importance of the advocacy walk: “As we celebrate National Women’s Month this coming March, this Inter-Key KSA Advocacy Walk takes on a deeper significance. It acknowledges the extraordinary efforts of our employees, especially the women, who have been instrumental in realizing our respective organizations’ visions.”

“This gathering is a testament to our collective commitment to not only celebrate their achievements but also to ensuring that their contributions continue to shape a brighter, more equitable future for everyone,” he added.

On the other hand, NHA GAD Chairperson Atty. Maria Magdalena D. Siacon echoed GM Tai’s statement, noting, “We know that when women are empowered, society benefits. Studies show that when women are educated and financially independent, they invest in their families and communities, improving the quality of life for everyone…”

DHSUD Undersecretary and GFPS Executive Committee Chairperson Henry L. Yap, meanwhile, underscored the event’s significance, asserting, “As we walk together today, may we be reminded that every step we take and every role we play in our respective agencies are milestones and steps closer towards attaining a future where women, regardless of their background, are included and empowered in all our housing sector efforts. Let us walk proudly and loudly, for change is possible when we stand together.

Along with the NHA and DHSUD, KSA members Home Development Mutual Fund (Pag-IBIG), Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC), National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation (NHMFC), and Human Settlements Adjudication Commission (HSAC) also participated in the advocacy walk.
