The Negros Oriental Provincial Veterinary Office confirmed new African swine fever cases in Siaton, Amlan and Tanjay City, prompting the culling of infected and exposed hogs.
Provincial Veterinarian Melody Vilan said all three local government units had previously recorded ASF infections.
In Siaton, six of eight blood samples tested positive. The infected hogs came from Barangays Maloh and Tayak and had already died before laboratory confirmation.
Amlan recorded 20 positive results out of 50 samples collected from Barangays Bio-os, Silab, Jantianon and Jugno.
Tanjay City posted the highest number of confirmed infections, with 24 of 27 samples testing positive across several barangays.
Authorities culled 52 hogs in Amlan, including 25 animals previously depopulated, and another 40 in Tanjay City as part of containment measures.
Disinfection and additional blood sampling continued in affected areas, while recent tests from Sta. Catalina, La Libertad, Canlaon City, Mabinay and Dauin returned negative results.
Vilan urged backyard and commercial hog raisers to report unexplained pig deaths immediately so veterinary teams could validate cases, collect samples and prevent further spread of ASF.
