One of Metro Manila’s most wanted persons was arrested in Marikina City over 10 counts of qualified rape, with the court ordering that no bail be granted, police said.

The Philippine National Police said the suspect, ranked No. 2 on the National Capital Region’s most wanted list, was tracked down in Barangay Malanday early on Aug. 30.

Personnel of Police Station 14 of the Manila Police District carried out the arrest based on a warrant covering all 10 charges.

Police withheld the suspect’s identity and other personal details. No information was immediately provided on when or where the alleged offenses occurred.

The warrant carried a recommendation of no bail, meaning the suspect will remain detained while the cases proceed unless otherwise ordered by the court.

The arrested individual was placed under police custody for turnover to the appropriate judicial authorities and further legal proceedings.

PNP Chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the issuance of an arrest warrant is only the beginning of efforts to bring a wanted person before the courts.

“Hindi natatapos ang trabaho sa pag-iisyu ng warrant. We have to find the person, make the arrest properly, and turn them over to the justice system,” Nartatez said.

The PNP said it would continue operations to locate wanted persons across the country while ensuring arrests are carried out in accordance with due process.
