The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) reported on Wednesday the arrest of a man for sextortion in Makati City earlier this month.

The suspect was apprehended on February 5 by operatives of the NBI’s Fraud and Financial Crimes Division following a complaint filed by his former girlfriend.

Investigators said the victim reported that her ex-boyfriend threatened to circulate their intimate videos unless she agreed to meet him and engage in sexual activity, with one video already forwarded to another person.

The NBI said agents coordinated with the complainant and advised her to cooperate in an entrapment operation.

Authorities arrested the suspect after entering the room where he had brought the complainant, who identified him as the person who made the threats.

The suspect’s mobile phone, which contained the intimate videos, was seized during the operation, the NBI said.

He was presented for inquest for grave coercion, violations of laws protecting women and children, and the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act, all in relation to the Cybercrime Prevention Act.
