Over 8,600 passengers were stranded in ports nationwide on Saturday, December 6, 2025, as Tropical Depression Wilma continued to affect sea travel, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said.
In its 10 a.m. maritime advisory, the PCG reported that 8,622 passengers were unable to travel between 4 a.m. and 8 a.m. across 87 ports in Southern Tagalog, Bicol, Southern and Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Western Visayas, and Northern and Northeastern Mindanao.
A total of 126 vessels, 38 motorbancas, and 2,628 rolling cargoes were also unable to sail due to the weather disturbance. Another 161 vessels and 101 motorbancas took shelter to avoid rough conditions.
In its 11 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Wilma maintained its strength as it neared Eastern Samar and Northern Samar. As of 10 a.m., the storm was spotted over the coastal waters of Sulat, Eastern Samar, carrying maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 55 kph while moving slowly westward.
PAGASA said Wilma is expected to make landfall over Eastern Samar or Northern Samar within the day (Saturday).
